Hey Matt, thanks for the likes on the third volume, The Fire Baby, of my book, A Tale of Two Times. I don’t know what you liked about it, stepping into the middle of the tale. It's a very long read, intended for a few geeky types who want to get into a multi level story. The chapter lengths (20-30 minutes) are way too long for online reading, so it's not a good way for a writer to go, but I continue posting weekly, because a few folks keep opening it. If you know anyone who wants to start at the beginning, the UBL for the first volume, The Menace of the Ancient Foe, is https://books2read.com/u/49va2X
A chapter a week is the rate my excellent editor moves through the turmoil of my writing. You’re right, a editor is a gift from Heaven.
After reading a few of your posts, I judge that you are a person who has a calling to write. You write as if you’re talking articulately to a listener. Me, I write because I've novel ideas to share, or at least make clear in the background of the story. These ideas are the fruit of sixty years of "deep thought". I started writing A Tale of Two Times at seventy five. It was completed in draft when I was seventy nine, and started self publishing the completed and edited volumes through D2D.
I liked your ruminating about having a child, it was something we, my editor and I, never thought about in the day. Well, maybe she did, but didn’t mention it to me then, so now we're great grandparents. It's weird and rewarding, but not angst free. But for the kid's sake, you'll need to produce a sibling, too, trust me.
And I read books the way you do, several at the same time, with meals and at bed time, and poetry in the evening. I do a forth book on audio when I take a hike or round the track in inclement weather.
PS, Quick and Painless is a good read. I enjoyed it.
Thanks for your thoughtful comment, JBS. It's given me a lot to think about. Also, I was very happy to read your background on your story, A Tale of Two Times. I was glad to have stumbled upon it and have enjoyed what I've read. I'm glad to meet, and hear from, a new friend with literary inclinations. Have a beautiful week! And keep up the great work.
I personally dislike “a little pinch” now. I know it won’t be. Then there is “something to keep you relaxed and comfortable” and “conscious sedation”. I have had either of those phrases mean just about anything. But “quick and painless”? How do they know?
how did I miss that amazing piece of artwork about one of my favorite people to mock? that would be Darwin and the Huxley brother's .. which lead to Timothy Leary.. via Aldous Huxley.. though I consider him and many of those men brilliant .. it must have been the mold on the bread that put them into the mpsyche wards.. I mean .. uh.. psycho .. wha cha callit. I spent ALL OF MY TIME IN THE LIBRRARY btw. anyway I have a long day again dealing with the "DMV"..and other self appointed folks sorting out real ID and other nonsense: just wanted to say hello. KEEP UP THE what was called in my day "stream of consciousness" writing and sharing.. your most intimate thoughts: Take care of yourself and count your blessings if you believe in such a thing.. I do.. I have no advice or profound thoughts to offer.. except avoid fatty foods.. :) Isabella
Absolutely, Matt, "Seize the Day." It's funny to think of a season dictating one's outdoor activities having spent nearly my entire life in the Golden State but not so for you now smack dab in the middle of the heart of 4 season world. There's always snow shoveling . . . thanks for the nice reply
I'm inclined to think this is autobiographical. Was it? If so, what was the procedure you were dreading. I see and hear the "voice" I've come to know from reading your weekly missives. I wanted it to be longer. That's a good thing, of course. "Leave them wanting more . . ." Keep writing
You're too keen, Fred. Thinking back, I believe this was brought about by a recent wisdom teeth procedure, in which the dentist had told me the whole thing would be "quick and painless." It was a phrase that struck me.
Thanks so much for reading and for the encouragement, as always. It's needed! I've been slacking over the past week or so. My excuse is that winter is coming, at which point I will hole up and read and write. For now, I'm trying to do as many activities as possible before winter shuts down the outside world. Should be interesting.
Quicky and painless, they say
Pleasure and pain, they say too!
But pleasure without the pain for change is great tae ;)
Thanks for your comment :) It reads as a little poem. Have a great week and weekend!
You too Matt, have a gud yin!
Nice one. It was quick and painless 😂😂😂
Thanks, Roland :)

Right!? These were my thoughts when this story began percolating. Thanks for reading. Have a happy Friday and weekend :)

Thank you, Adetokunbo!

This how I would like it but I doubt it.
I do not.
