Yooo this poetry is great. Thanks for sharing. I dig your other articles too!

I looked at your about page and saw that you're in Chicago area? I'll be there around the 20th... If it's not too forward, it would be cool to network with another writer.

The sentiment reminds me of that behind the A.E. Housman poem, "Terence, This is Stupid Stuff," in which the protagonist advises that we build up a tolerance for adversity by regularly subjecting ourselves to depressing poetry.

Edna St. Vincent Millay never fails to deliver. I'd written a poem inspired by her earlier this year: https://medium.com/poems-from-the-pandemic/my-candle-burns-at-both-ends-c0a19c85f37c

Some real gems in there Matt. Thank you. I stumbled on this site some time ago, I'm not sure exactly how but like you when I first read the thing or things that came my way, somehow they seemed revelatory, perfect clarity and simplicity. I'm glad to have a little deeper appreciation of this site (account?) now after reading your personal wanderings.

I'm glad you enjoyed. Truly, those poems are fantastic, as pretty much all the poems are on @poetryisnotaluxury. Whoever runs that account has impeccable taste. What it must feel like to write a poem like these ones! And, as you say, all of them, somehow, feel relevant. It really shows off what poetry does best a.k.a. capture the raw emotions of life.
